Cover Your Ears, I Anticipate Feedback...

All the news fit to blog, for the low, low price of free (and you can even talk back to me!):
  • I was very happy to read this morning that the space shuttle landed safely. (My eyewitness account of Columbia disintegrating over Texas--without my realizing it at the time--can be found here.)

  • I had lots of comments on the Raffy situation a while back; what does everyone think about Kenny Rogers' suspension getting lifted today?

  • Last week's comment thread that won't die is up to 23 24 entries now, but today's post should knock it off the bottom of the page. Here's the permalink if you want to keep the thread going. (Jim P. points out the irony in having that many comments on a post that was entitled "Short and Random.")

  • And finally, speaking of comments, I have enabled comment dating, as requested by several readers. Let me know what you think of the format I chose. (The other project, "commenter dating," which will allow single commenters on The Musings to meet up for a no-strings-attached lunch date, is still in the very early development stages.)

Taking the "Jonny Cat" concept a little too far, maybe: My cat, Tasha, has had some issues lately with missing her litterbox more often than not, but does anyone who's met her think that she'd ever go for this?

Blowing out the candles: Happy birthday to Lileks, one of my favorite bloggers...or, better put, one of my favorite writers, who just happens to blog.

Kenny Rogers - I thought he was getting off easy with the 20 game suspension.

The cat - I wouldn't know. I only met her once and her reaction was "HISSSS!! *run away*".

*backs away veeeeeeery slowly*
... I do enjoy long walks on the beach... and fine dining ;P

I look forward to hearing Raffi and Rogers duet on "Islands in the Stream." Wait, we're talking ball players?

Good idea for others but it's not for me. Why? Say it with me like Zack De La Rocha sang with Rage Against the Machine: FREEDOM!!!!!!!!

Eric: Raffi and Mr. Rogers...wow, that might be a forgettable CD (however, Mr. Rogers was a fraternity brother of mine, evidently a really good guy, and had a great jazz pianist backing him up on that show).

And of course the "commenter dating" thing was completely facetious; when I first typed out the phrase "comment dating," it looked like some sort of online romance service. (Still, can't you imagine a day when a couple you've never met before will come up to you and say, "We met on your blog, and now we're married with six kids!")

Oh, and I saw Rage live one time at Will Rogers Coliseum...

Oh wait, you meant the other Kenny Rogers. Thinking of Raffy got me in kids' TV mode for some reason. Heh, the Gambler was so far off my radar screen that I didn't even think of him.

Of course, but where's the fun if you don't go along with it?

To Have And To Blog
Word on The Internets has it that Eric and Kathleen were married by blog. Apparently, there's a little known law governing informal marriage in Texas. For a marriage to be legal, the law requires a public declaration of the marriage with local witnesses. Since there are blog readers in Texas, Eric and Kathleen's public posts meet those requirements. Here's Kathleen's explaination. Congratulations you crazy kids. (Via Kottke)

Congratulations, Eric! But why did you never mention Kathleen, you sly devil you? ;-)

(I'm totally kidding, of course...I know it's not you, having not forgotten your first post on this thread. But how funny is it that the blogo-groom's name is Eric and that he's evidently from Texas!)

I rarely mention her because she exists in a parallel universe where there are no consequences.
:-)

Wait, isn't that what a blog is???
