According to my mom (who teaches at McNeese State, a regional university in Lake Charles, LA), they start their PhD faculty in math at not a whole lot less than what I make now as a senior engineer with 15+ years experience. The move to a public school would probably be at least a 50% pay cut.<BR/><BR/>Plus I could NEVER tolerate the pointy-headed ivory-tower administrators and their "Zero Tolerance" policies that you blogged about above. That kind of middle management mentality is a big reason why I'm looking to put the corporate engineering world in my rear-view mirror ASAP!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
